Silver Spring Fire Prevention Trophy Award:
Congratulations to Elyssa Cool of the Vigilant Hose Company who is the recipient of this years’ Silver Spring Fire Prevention Trophy.
The Silver Spring Trophy was established in 1981 by the Silver Spring Volunteer Fire Department. The award is presented each year at the MSFA Annual Convention to an individual who does the most in fire prevention for his/her community. The award is for an individual effort and, therefore, submission of the entry had to be for one individual rather than a group or department effort. The award recognizes fire prevention activities which the individual performs within his/her community. The trophy is held by the individual for one year and then passed on. The winner receives an individual plaque for permanent possession. Well Done Elyssa!

After the closing ceremony, the annual Maryland State Firemen’s Association Parade is held in Ocean City. The parade line up is a first come, first in line bases. Parade prizes and awards were presented at the Exhibit Hall of the Convention Center upon completion of the parade.

Parade Awards Winners were:

Antique Emergency Apparatus Making Best Appearance (25 Years of Older, Not in Service). This was awarded to United Steam Fire Company for their 1939 Ahrens Fox.
