Frederick County Fire Prevention Ambassador Brieanne Combs now has a new title. Brieanne was named MSFA Miss Fire Prevention First Runner-up during a ceremony Sunday, at the MSFA convention in Ocean City.

Ms. Combs, a member of Rocky Ridge and Carroll Manor Volunteer Fire Companies, has been touting fire prevention and life safety across Frederick county. Now, she will take that message around the state.

Rocky Ridge Chief Allen Hurley said the company is proud that Combs received the position. "She has worked hard on her presentation," he said. "She will do a great job."

Combs, 17, who will be a senior at Brunswick High School in the fall, was stunned when her name was called.

"I was more shocked than anything," she said.

On Monday morning, Combs had already attended a number of events at the MSFA annual convention, and her schedule was full.

Combs said she is looking forward to visiting various areas of the state. "I think it will be fun."
