On June 25, 2021 Frederick County Fire and Rescue units were dispatched to a call in the Walkersville, Maryland area for a teenager unresponsive in a pool. Volunteer Firefighter/EMT Ja'montrez (Monte) Williams of Junior Fire Company (Station 2), was volunteering with another organization when he heard commotion in the pool, jumped in, pulled the teen from the water, and initiated CPR. Prior to fire department arrival the teen had regained consciousness and was sitting up.

Last night, the Division honored and recognized Volunteer Ja’Montrez Williams for his heroic actions and presented him with a Division challenge coin!

Due to his quick response and life saving skills, Ja’Montrez was interviewed by Gwen Tolbert of Fox 5 News DC. His heroic actions were aired on Fox 5 News last night as well.

We are all extremely proud of Ja’Montrez and commend him for a job well done!
