The Frederick County Fire/Rescue Museum will open for the season at noon April 2.
The museum on South Seton Avenue in Emmitsburg will be open on weekends from noon to 4 p.m.
Volunteers spent last Sunday sweeping, dusting and getting ready for visitors.
"I think we'll be busy especially since we were closed due to the pandemic," Museum President Chip Jewell told the group. "Many people are anxious to get out again..."
Jewell encourages local personnel to consider volunteering at the museum that houses county fire, rescue and EMS artifacts including apparatus, equipment and photographs. A room for children features fire prevention and life safety materials.
The majority of the visitors are emergency responders from around the world who enjoy sharing information about their departments and operations. That, Jewell says, is what makes spending time at the museum interesting.
