On Monday, April 17, 2023, during National Volunteer Week, The Frederick County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association (FCVFRA) and the FCVFRA Ladies Auxiliary presented their 30th Annual Awards ceremony at the Walkersville Volunteer Fire Company.

The room was filled with members and families from across the county. Dozens of volunteer firefighters and emergency medical services personnel received awards and recognition Monday evening for their service to the community. The stories heard were a mere snapshot of the hundreds of hours of service provided by the volunteer members to their communities. Ten volunteer fire and rescue personnel were inducted into the association’s Hall of Fame.

"....volunteer firefighters serve an essential role to protecting lives and property in the Frederick community and we recognize and commend their service above self..." stated County Executive Jessica Fitzwater.

to volunteer” ~ R.I. Graywolf
