Quick, effective action by Frederick firefighters saved the News-Post warehouse on South Carroll Street from destruction Monday night. The fire, reported to be of “suspicious origin” is currently under investigation by C. William Mock, city fire marshal, and T.S.
May, state fire investigator.

When firefighters arrived on the scene shortly after 10:17 p.m. Monday, fire could be seen on the second and third floors. United Fire Chief Warren Stevens reported that three separate fires were located at various locations in the building. The fire will not affect the operation of the News-Post, according to George Delaplaine Jr., News-Post general manager.
