Robert “Bobby” Dutrow has been a dedicated member of the New Midway Volunteer Fire Company for more than 70 years, having joined at age 16. Throughout his time with the department, he served as Secretary for one year in the 1950s. While he often drove the tanker on calls, most of his service was spent riding as a back step firefighter.

Bobby is also a member of the Walkersville Volunteer Fire Company. While employed at Aunt Lucy’s Hams, he remained committed to the fire service and responded to calls whenever needed.

On March 22, Bobby celebrated his 90th birthday. He can still be found at most department events, volunteering his time—whether preparing for functions, serving tea, or working in the dishwasher room.

Bobby continues to set the standard and demonstrates what it truly means to be a volunteer.

On June 23, 2026, at the MSFA Awards ceremony, Bobby was recognized for his age and many years of service.
