Frederick County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Services wants YOU!

The Frederick County Volunteer Fire & Rescue Services High School Work-Based Learning Internship Program is offered to Frederick County high school juniors and seniors by Frederick County Volunteer Fire & Rescue Services. Local volunteers may attend this program also by registering using the attached student application.

If you have or know of anyone that's interested in getting some great training, obtain life skills and are either a company volunteer member in need of classes or a High School student at least 16 years of age, please enroll in this program. Not a member, no problem! We will assist you in becoming a volunteer member so you can join the internship program. And our volunteer corporations support you through this program.

Once you become a member of one of our volunteer fire/rescue corporations, you must pass a Frederick County Fire Department (NFPA 1582) physical and respirator fit test in addition to completing a background check and fingerprinting.

Students will be responsible for their own transportation to and from the Frederick County Public Safety Training Facility.

Students that want to participate are required to receive permission from their High School Work – Based Learning Coordinator and/or fire/rescue company chief.

Classes will be held Monday thru Friday at the Public Safety Training Facility from 12:00 pm to 3:00pm. The program follows the Frederick County Public School calendar to accommodate for holidays and school closings.
