Nearly everyone knows a firefighter. They’re our family, friends, and co-workers. They respond to a stranger’s call for help without hesitation and serve with pride and compassion. They’re our community heroes. When a firefighter dies in the line of duty, an entire community grieves.
As dusk turns to dark, landmarks, homes, fire service organizations, and businesses across the country will again glow in respect from May 1-5, 2024, to honor the fallen and their families by illuminating with a red light signifying a tribute to all firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty. On May 1-5th, 2024 you can be part of honoring the fallen.
The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) is set to host the 43rd National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend on May 4 and 5, 2024, at the National Emergency Training Center in Emmitsburg, Maryland. National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend is a time for our nation to pause and reflect on the heroic efforts and selfless service of the fallen firefighters we are paying tribute to this year. This weekend is a time for sharing, healing, and commemorating each firefighter's commitment to public duty.
Together, we’ll let the families of the fallen know that we will never forget.
